Gus was born in Johnson City, Tennessee on June 27, 1995. He grew up an athlete, competing in baseball, basketball, football, and karate. Gus got his first taste of the stage when he was 10 years old, but did not get his first paid job until booking a role as Ellard Sims in a production of "The Foreigner" at Blue Moon Dinner Theater in Johnson City.
