Edouard Dufourt studied as a lapidary in Antwerp. There, he studied the carving of diamonds and in the early 1970s became the last hand diamond cuter in France. A character with many talents, he is at the same time a founder, sculptor and artisan jeweler. He was also known in the 1950s for his talents as a burlesque actor.
